Neither the entries, nor the indexes, will necessarily be in any order, but I will add entries as they occur to me. However, one of my aims is to link each key word to an entry about it. I have linked this main index page to this blog's front page.

Thank you Stephen for this amazing resource. Im sorry I haven't been here much as im still mouring the loss of my Father who was my best friend.

But I always manage to sneek a peek into your blog just to keep up to date on the shroud. Your tireless work has helped more people then you can possibly know.

A year and a half ago I had a debate on the god and science forum with an atheist on the shroud which lasted 5 months and after that 5 months he became an agnostic. Im sure his Christian Girlfriend was delighted. If it wasn't for your blog I never would have been able to research and find the info needed in our debate so quickly.

Thank you again for your tireless work. My opinion is this is the best shroud blog out there.

I rarely visit shroud story because of some of the crazy theories they have on that blog.

Right now I just miss my dad and its gonna take time to get through this period of time for me.

The great news is that Dad reconciled with God 3 days before he passed because he was angry with him for my mom's stroke and what a priest tried to do to him in his homeland in Lebanon.

before he passed into a coma my aunt gave him a picture of the lord and asked him who it was and he said it is the messih (Lebanese for messiah) , and he kissed the picture of Christ. When I heard of this I cried many tears of joy, now knowing where my dad is now with Christ.

It brings me great consolation but as I am still human , I miss him so much as he was my best friend. We were inseperable and we did everything together.

How are things down under in Aussie land Stephen. hope all is well with you and your wife :)

It hopefully WILL be. As far as I am aware it is (or will be) the only encyclopedia on the Shroud. I had thought of starting it many times before but I was daunted by the hugeness of the task. I expect that when I have finished my "The Shroud of Turin" series, my "Turin Shroud Encyclopedia" will occupy me for the rest of my blogging life.

Thanks. I have not read Dan Porter’s blog since 8 May: nearly 3 months. I opened one of his old posts by accident (about the Shroud exhibition in 2015, when I plan to go and see the Shroud) and in Googling Shroud-related topics I have seen the first few lines of some of his posts, but I have not read them.

I have finally freed myself from worrying what others think about what I post. I now post only for JESUS’ approval.

As I wrote above, I have not read Dan’s blog for nearly 3 months. Porter thinks it is open-minded and therefore good to air anti-authenticity views.

But 2 John 1:10-11 says that a Christian who helps spread false teaching "takes part in" the false teachers’ "wicked works":

"10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, 11 for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works."

I am well but my wife is slowly going downhill in the use of her legs and arms due to MS.

But at least she is alive and in sound mind, unlike the spouses of some of my fiends.

I am still planning to see the Shroiud in Turin next year and I am waiting for the bookings system to start up. I gather it will be announced on Shroud.com when it is operational.

Maybe that the C14 date was due to a computer hacker, Arizona's Timothy W. Linick?!

I am surprised it hasn't taken off yet. But I am quietly confident it is the only viable explanation for the Shroud being 1st century, yett its C14 `just happened' to be 1325 +/- 65 years, i.e. ~25 years before the Shroud first appeared in undisputed history in the 1350s.

All other pro-authenticist theories don't work (e.g. contamination with younger carbon, neutron flux, etc), because it would need ~60% of the Shroud to be contaminated to give 1st century shroud a 14th century C14 date and it would be a miracle if a neutron flux `just happened' to give a ~1325 +/- 65 C14 date to a 1st century shroud.

Two positive indications that my Linick hacker theory is true are:

1) Linick being inexplicably quoted as anti-authenticity in Sox's 1988 book, which proves beyond reasonable doubt that Linick was the leaker of Arizona's 1350 date to Sox; and

2) Table 2 in the 1989 Nature paper admits and has no explanation for:

"An initial inspection of Table 2 shows that the agreement among the three laboratories for samples 2, 3 and 4 is exceptionally good. The spread of the measurements for sample 1 is somewhat greater than would be expected from the errors quoted."

This otherwise inexplicable fact is explained by the Shroud sample 1's dates being not real dates (as the control samples 2, 3 and 4 were) but random numbers within limits generated by a hacker's (Linick's) computer program.

In addition there is Linick's sudden "untimely" death only 4 months after the Nature article appeared, and only days after KGB hacker Karl Koch's inexplicable death by a contrived `suicide'.

And also the major bug in the VMS operating system in the 1980s that the three laboratories AMS "DEC computer system[s]" were then using which made it easy for an experienced hacker like Koch to login under any name and the gain System Manager status so he could run Linick's program.

I gather from the first few lines of Google searches on "shroud turin hacker" to see if anyone has supported my theory, that Dan Porter continues to `poison the well' against my theory. But he is just a fence-sitter who doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to propose his own theory, either pro- or anti-authenticity, but he seeks to maximise his blog's popularity (which he had often bragged about) by `running with the pro-authenticity hares and hunting with the anti-authenticity hounds'.

But again I am quietly confident that my Linick hacker theory is the only viable explanation of how the authentic 1st century Shroud of Turin's C14 date `just happened' to be ~1325, and that in the long run it will be accepted. I expect that further confirmation of my theory will emerge in the future.

I hope to complete part #9 of my theory supporting the KGB's involvement in Koch's and Linick's deaths and then I will conclude the serries with a part #10 summary.

After that I will get back to my "The Shroud of Turin" series. Interspersed by posts in my new "Turin Shroud Encyclopedia."

I look forwarded to hearing whatever comes out of the St Louis Shroud conference. I regret that living in Western Australia I am so isolated. I have never personally met another `Shroudie' let alone been to a Shroud conference.

I am sorry but what you wrote here is in total contradiction with what you wrote some weeks ago on this very same blog...

There is NO contradiction. I AM the full-time carer of my wife who has multiple sclerosis which is progressively robbing her of the use of her legs and hands.

By "full-time carer" I didn't mean that I have to care for her 24 hours a day. She is OK during the day when I work as a relief teacher. But I do need to care for her 7 days a week. Without going into details there are things I need to do for her every day which she cannot do herself.

If I did go to Turin to see the Shroud we would have to make alternative carer arrangements for the ~2 weeks I would be away. When I wrote the above in March it seemed impossible that I could leave her to see the Shroud. But since then she has urged me to go.

So I am now planning to see the Shroud. But when the bookings system starts up, before I make my booking, my wife and I will have to make the final decision whether we can make alternative arrangements so that I can leave her for ~2 weeks to see the Shroud. If we cannot make those alternative arrangements then I won't be seeing the Shroud in 2015.

My wife and I watched a DVD of "War of the Worlds" tonight. The 2005 version starring Tom Cruise. It was on my wife's `bucket list' ever since we saw the movie's plane crash set at Universal Studios, Hollywood, in July 2005.

After watching the DVD we talked about my `bucket list' which has only one item on it-to see the Shroud.

Yesterday I had completed my online tax return and I should get a refund of over $4,000. My wife had suggested that I use it to see the Shroud.

We came to the mutual conclusion that my wife should be OK for ~2 weeks if I went to see the Shroud in 2015.

So when the Archdiocese of Turin's Online Reservation System starts in October, all being well, I will be making my booking to see the Shroud!

I use Shroud Scope: http://www.sindonology.org/shroudScope/shroudScope.shtml

A company called HAL9000 in 2008 digitally photographed the Shroud, such that detail as small as "one five-hundredth of a millimetre" can be seen:

"But further developments in digital image technology were in train. In 2007, in Novara, a city only fifty-five miles from Turin, a company titling themselves HAL9000 digitally photographed Leonardo da Vinci's vast twenty-nine-foot-long mural The Last Supper in 1,677 separate sections, following which they digitally stitched these together to create a giant multi-gigabyte image now accessible on the internet. This enabled even as little as a square centimetre of Leonardo's sadly so ruined painting to be readily examined on a home computer. Such an approach obviously lent itself to the Shroud. As a result, on 22 January 2008 the HAL9000 technicians were allowed a day of direct access to the cloth. During this time they captured 158 gigabytes' worth of photographic data enabling the viewing of details as tiny as one five-hundredth of a millimetre. A twenty-threefoot-long giant print of this has already been displayed in Novara, and internet access and/or a DVD similar to that for the da Vinci work is expected to be available by the time of this book's publication." (Wilson, I., 2010, "The Shroud: The 2000-Year-Old Mystery Solved," Bantam Press: London, p.24).

But as far as I am aware, it is not yet available for viewing over the Internet. Google "HAL9000" and if you find that HAL9000 digital photos of the Shroud are now viewable over the Internet, could you please let me know in a comment below?

However, such high definition is a bit of a fallacy. Even on Shroud Scope, one can magnify a part of the Shroud so high that it becomes a meaningless mass of pixels.
